Our After-School Program

Designed for teens who need more intensive after-school behavioural health care while they’re still in school. Intensive outpatient after-school for teens offers a wide range of therapy options including in person counselling, in group therapy, and in home family therapy. All services are offered after school and can easily be scheduled. Our team of trained therapists and behavioral health professionals works with teens to address their mental health concerns, develop coping strategies, and build resilience. We ensure that teens receive the care they need without compromising their academic performance.

Each teen’s mental wellness journey is unique. That’s why we tailor treatment plans to each teen’s individual needs. Our experienced clinicians conduct comprehensive assessments to identify areas of need and create a tailored treatment approach that addresses those needs. Our Intensive outpatient program, After School, integrates evidence-based therapy and personalized interventions to help teen’s overcome challenges and develop the skills needed to maintain long-term mental health and wellness.

We believe that teens’ ability to manage stress and build resilience is critical for their overall mental health and well-being in the long run. Through a variety of therapeutic modalities and after-school workshops, we provide teens with the tools they need to develop healthy coping strategies. From stress management techniques to mindfulness based practices, our after-school program After School provides teens with valuable tools that they can apply to their daily lives. Building resilience and healthy coping strategies empower teens to face life challenges with strength and self-assurance.

Common Mental Health Conditions For Teens

Many teens experience anxiety disorders, such as Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Social Anxiety Disorder (SAD) and Panic Disorder (PTSD). Factors like academic pressure, peer pressure and hormonal changes can all lead to heightened levels of anxiety. Talk about anxiety, reduce stigma and provide resources to manage anxiety.

Depression is another common teen mental health condition. Symptoms of depression include persistent sadness, low school or work attendance, anger, changes in appetite, and difficulty concentrating. Early diagnosis, treatment, and care can have a significant impact on teens’ lives.

Eating Disorders Eating disorders are more common in teens than in adults. Girls are more likely to develop an eating disorder than any other gender. Eating disorders are caused by a number of factors, such as: Body image pressure Societal standards Distorted self-image Eating disorders can lead to a variety of health problems, including: Anorexia Bulimia Eating disorders Binge-eating disorders Eating disorders.

One of the top reasons teens abuse substances is because they’re dealing with a mental health issue or because they feel peer pressure to do so. Substance abuse is the use of substances such as drugs and alcohol (including alcohol, tobacco and marijuana), prescription drugs, and other illicit substances. By educating teens on the risks and consequences of using substances, fostering healthy communication, and expanding treatment and rehabilitation options, teens can reduce their risk of substance use.

The most common forms of self-harm, such as self-cutting, burning or self-injuring, is among the most common causes of mental health problems among teenagers. If an adolescent is struggling with severe mental health issues, they may turn to self-harm as a form of self-medication. Suicide is one of the leading causes of death among teenagers, and the number of teen suicides is on the rise. To reduce the risk of teen suicide, it is important to raise awareness, reduce the stigma around suicide, and increase the availability of mental health professionals.

Our Teen Program offers individual and group therapy designed to meet the unique needs of teens. Individual counseling, group therapy or a combination of both, each teen receives personalized attention. We treat teens with a range of mental health conditions, including anxiety and depression, self-esteem issues, stress, and many more. Our Teen Program’s mission is to empower teens with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in life while building a healthy mental health system.

We know that conventional approaches don’t always work for teens, which is why our innovative approach to youth mental health support is at the core of our Teen Program. From interactive workshops to creative expression activities and skill building exercises, we provide an environment where teens can explore their feelings, thoughts and aspirations. Combining evidence-based approaches with innovative methods, we empower teens to better understand themselves and find healthy ways to better manage their mental health.

While our Teen Program provides individualized support, we also recognize the importance of peer support for teens’ overall mental health. Through group therapy and support groups, teens have the chance to connect with peers who share their challenges and successes. Building lasting relationships within our program creates a sense of belonging and builds support networks that go beyond the teens’ time in our program.
